California elementary school students start their learning with the family and neighborhood. Later, they move on to city, county and California state history, then to the stories of the American Revolution and the Civil War.

The first of these three years takes them from those early days in the United States through time into the country of today and across space and time to knit together the stories they know of home with what has been happening across the western hemisphere.

The second year moves from Africa across the equator to the Pacific, tieing past studies in European history to the growth and development of man and culture and the sea.

In the final year, we move to the Mediterranean, Europe and North Africa, using three of the world's major religions as a framework for discussion, finally heading through India to China and the conclusion of our world tour.
